The fifth grade students viewed the paintings of contemporary painter Susan Andreasen, who creates oil paintings of endangered animals in their natural habitats. They also viewed the art of National Geographic photographer Joel Satore, who completed a major photojournalism project on endangered species in North and South America. The fifth graders observed photographs of endangered animals, and they created colored pencil drawings of these animals within their natural habitats. Through creating these drawings, the students learned that art can be used to bring about positive changes within society.

First Grade Fall Reflections
The first grade students read the book "Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf" by Lois Elhert. They learned about how in autumn the leaves change from a cool colors to warm colors. Theyalso learned how to draw tree trunks and branches, and they created a monoprint by folding the paper when the painted leaves were still wet.
