Wayne Thiebaud "sweet treats" collage
The first grade students viewed the painting "pies, pies, pies" by the American painter Wayne Thiebaud. The students studied the balanced composition of this painting, and they were inspired to create their own artwork showing their favorite sweet treats.
The Universe is my Home
The First Grade students read the book "The Universe is my Home." After traveling to space with their imaginations, the students created collages of what they saw!

Grouchy Ladybugs!
The kindergarten students read the book "The Very Grouchy Ladybug" by Eric Carle. They explored how to create a face that looked "very grouchy," and they worked on fine motor skills by using collage techniques.
