The first Grade students read Good-Night Owl! by Pat Hutchins. They learned the meaning of the word "nocturnal," and they learned that owls are nocturnal. The students used a torn paper technique to create the wings and body of the owls. Students learned about pattern, and they used different types of beans to create an "A-B" pattern on their owls.
